When I was growing up in Niagara Falls, a trip to the big city for my family meant driving to Hamilton. We were always so excited to take the trip, watching the fields and farms and towns slip past, seeing the lake, and then the excitement of seeing the gigantic factories along Burlington Street on our way to our friends’ home. To this day, whenever I enter Hamilton along the soaring ramps and roadways through the heavy industrial part of town near the Harbour, it still brings back fond memories of driving the same route with my parents and sister. It is funny how what would normally be the setting for futuristic and sci-fi movies would always be for me the backdrop for heartwarming memories of sunny drives and the excitement of travelling to a warm, fun, and wonderful world called Hamilton.
I hope you can sense the same excitement and awe in the paintings in this series.
